Description

On April 8th, 2024, Batavia Lodge will vote on amending its By-laws regarding stated meeting start time. The specific change in the language, the rationale and how the language will appear below. All members wishing to vote on the By-laws change must be present in Lodge on April, 8th 2024 at 7:30 pm when the lodge opens for the evening.

Proposed change to by-laws of Batavia Lodge #404 Current by-law to reflect start time change of regular stated meetings under Meetings sec. 2. Currently reads 7:30 pm and will now state 6:30 pm it will also remove the line “Stated meetings with degree work will open at 6:30 pm.”

Meetings

2. The stated meetings shall be on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at [7:30]  6:30 P.M except the fourth Monday in July, the second Monday in August, and any stated lodge meeting that falls on a State of Illinois or National Holiday. Additionally in case of inclement weather, the meeting may be cancelled at the discretion of the Worshipful Master. The Annual Meeting on the Second Monday in October will be held even if it falls on a National Holiday. [Stated meetings with degree work will open at 6:30 pm.] Remove

Reason for change:

It is believed that the early start time will allow for adequate time to finish meetings in a timely manner to accommodate the needs of the Brothers of the lodge. It will also allow for more time for fellowship opportunities after meetings.
